Leave a legacy

A gift that supports future generations.

Research has transformed how Australians age. Many of these improvements have been made possible through the generosity of people who believed in the value of research and wanted that work to continue beyond their own lifetime.

A gift in your Will is an opportunity to leave a lasting contribution to work that helps people remain healthier, more independent and better supported as they age.

What is a gift in a Will?

A lasting contribution to work that improves lives.

A gift in a Will — sometimes called a bequest or legacy gift — is a donation made from your estate after your lifetime. After taking care of family and loved ones, some people choose to leave a percentage of their estate, a specific amount, or particular assets to causes important to them.

There is no expectation regarding the size of a gift. Every contribution reflects a commitment to creating positive change.

Planning your gift

Considering a gift in your Will.

Preparing or updating a Will is an important decision and one that should be made with professional advice. If you are considering leaving a gift to NARI, we encourage you to speak with your solicitor, legal adviser or estate planning professional.

Many people choose to discuss their intentions with family members as part of the planning process. Our team would be pleased to answer general questions and provide wording that may assist your legal adviser.

How to leave a bequest

Suggested wording for your Will.

You can leave a bequest to NARI as a share (a percentage of your estate), the residue of your estate after family and beneficiaries are provided for, or a special gift (a specified amount).

I (insert name) give to the National Ageing Research Institute, of 34–54 Poplar Road, Parkville, in the State of Victoria, ABN 71 154 866 047, for its general purposes (share/residue/special gift) of my estate free from all debts (secured or unsecured) or the sum of $(insert value). I declare that the receipt of acknowledgment of its Chief Executive Officer or other authorised officer will be sufficient to discharge the responsibility of my Executors or Trustees in respect of this bequest.

A shared commitment

We are deeply grateful to those who include NARI in their plans.

Their generosity helps ensure future generations of older Australians benefit from new discoveries, stronger evidence and better approaches to health, wellbeing and care. For a confidential conversation about leaving a gift in your Will, please contact our team.
